Alaska has a rich history of brewing. From the explorers of the 1700s through the Gold Rush, many a thirsty Alaskan has been able to enjoy locally made beers.
In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau’s local brewing history and innovation.
VIP BEER: Alaskan Big Mountain Pale Ale: 5.7% ABV and 45 IBU's
Pouring clear and bright gold in color, Big Mountain Pale has three domestic malt varieties providing firm footing for the distinct flavor and aroma of dry-hopped Simcoe® and Mosaic.® Notes of Asian pear, pine, and lemon in the aroma are answered by the toasted nut, biscuit and toffee malt. The crisp flavor is distinct from the aroma, with pleasantly strong herbal notes and hints of complex tropical fruit.
Alaskan Amber: 5.3% ABV and 18 IBU’s
Alaskan Amber is richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to provide the perfect balance. This highly drinkable alt-style beer suits first-time craft beer drinkers as well as seasoned connoisseurs.
Alaskan Icy Bay IPA: 6.2% ABV and 65 IBU’s
Alaskan Icy Bay IPA is made from glacier-fed water and a blend of Cascade, Bravo, Calypso, Summit and Apollo hops and premium two-row pale and specialty malts.
Alaskan White Ale: 5.3% ABV and 15 IBU’s
Alaskan White Ale has a soft, slightly sweet base with the unique spice aroma of coriander and crisp, citrus finish of orange peel. A light and effervescent body combined with the smooth palate creates a complex and delicate beer that is deliciously refreshing in any season.
Alaskan Hopothrmia: 8.5% ABV and 70 IBU’S
Hopothermia is a full-flavored representation of the Double IPA style with a robust malt body resting in easy harmony—like a massive grizzly bear in winter—with the big and drinkable American hop character.
Alaskan Kicker Session IPA: 4.5% ABV and 45 IBU’s
The hop-dominant flavor and aroma in our Kicker Session IPA might make you think this is a “bigger” beer. But the drinkable thirst quenching attributes of Kicker are enhanced by a lower alcohol content. A light caramel or toffee malt background and light-medium mouth feel makes this session ale a fuller bodied and satisfying brew. The hop flavors can be fruity, with tangerine and strawberry notes coming from Citra and Amarillo, and a grapefruit and pine taste from Simcoe and Mosaic hops. A bright hop aroma of citrus such as grapefruit and tangerine, with a light malt backbone.
Alaskan Summer Ale: 5.3% ABV and 18 IBU's
Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer.
New Richmond, WI
It started when Laura asked John, then an enthusiastic home brewer, if there are brown ales, red ales, even blond ales—why not a brunette ale? With that spark, John developed his signature wild rice brown ale, the Wild Brunette. Before long, he had to expand his home brew setup because friends were drinking all his beer, eventually opening a beloved neighborhood brew pub. When demand there outgrew supply, the full brewery and tap room in Wisconsin was the next logical step.
San Diego, CA
The perfect balance of taste and aroma. An obsession with ingredients. An exploration of techniques. And while we savor the result, we’re just as fascinated by the process to get there. What started as a small group of home brewers, who simply wanted to make a better beer, evolved into the adventurers known today as Ballast Point.

VIP beer will be... SPRUCE TIPPED IMPERIAL IPA 9.5%
Floats like a butterfly, smells like a tree. If there is such a thing as a graceful Imperial IPA, this is it. The aromatics will hit you before you even pick up the glass. Balanced with malt, and a hair of anise, this evergreen champ backs up that smell with a variety of hop-centric tastes; starting off with citrus and grapefruit notes and ending with the pine and resin one would expect from a “spruce-tipped” ale. Warming as it tip-toes around your tongue and giving your lungs a quick jab of menthol upon the next inhale. Spectacularly light on it’s feet, this 9.5% ABV bruiser will put on a show, but don’t expect to last many rounds.
BIPA - BELGIAN IPA 6.2%
“Oh, so juicy!,” not something a lot of IPAs can say, but when you rock Belgian-style with an IPA, that’s exactly what you get. The natural fruit aromas paired with tropical and citrus hop aromas keep the “flavor train” rolling longer than a stick of gum. Perfect for any event requiring “brewery casual” attire.
DARK - BELGIAN STOUT 8.0%
Don’t be afraid of the Dark. Unlike some of its bigger brethren, Dark is not to going to scare you off by being too big or too sweet. Pleasant fruitiness swim in sync with roasted malts & dry cocoa; balanced and flavorful, each sip will draw you to its murky depths, but you probably won’t mind.
CLASSIC WIT - BELGIAN WHEAT ALE WITH SPICES AND CITRUS 5.5%
Every Minnesotan has dreams of year-round summer, sunny days and patio nights. We did our best to put it in a can. Bright and light, with a touch of citrus and spice. Perfect in the boat, or in your coat. Let it put a little sunshine in your day, even during sweater weather.
VERTE - DRY-HOPPED STRONG BELGIAN GOLDEN 9.5%
Elegant and assertive, Or de Belgique Verte mixes Belgian beauty with hoppy beastliness. Saphir dry-hopped, the aromas of light citrus mingle with the pear and tropical fruit of its mother beer, Or de Belgique. A balancing act of sweet and bitter, Verte dances between styles to create a uniquely beautiful beer.

VIP BEER: Blonde Doppelbock –(IBU 26, ABV 7.8)
Although a true malt monster, the point is made in a subtle fashion. Intense yet personable. Hop character is subdued, the goodness of the grain dominates.
Coffee Vanilla Dark – (ABV 5.4)
We have taken one of our originals, Munich Dark, and pushed it to the next level by infusing it with Coffee and Vanilla. One of the best Munich Dunkel Style Lagers, this is a smooth as ice cream, coffee beer.
Fishin in the Dark – (ABV 7.5)
While black in color, this Imperial Schwarzbier is light in body with a crisp refreshing flavor. It is a darker nod to a traditional pilsner, crewed with local Wisconsin grown malts and hops.
Jobu – (ABV 8.5)
Aged for 6 months in Jamaican rum barrels, this ale is infused with the flavor of the Caribbean. Toasted caramel malt is perfectly complimented by the dark rum character imparted from the barrel aging.
Castle Danger, MN
Castle Danger Brewery has been brewing dangerously good ales on the North Shore of Lake Superior since 2011. Central Waters doesn’t just brew great beer; they are also one of the country’s most environmentally sustainable breweries, taking a wide range of steps to minimize their environmental footprint. The beer industry isn’t known for being especially environmentally friendly, but its great whenever a brewery takes concerted steps to make their product have as small of a footprint as possible. To that end, Central waters sources bottles from the greenest manufacturer in the county, uses post-consumer recycled cardboard for all packaging, and sources all hops and barley from local farmers?. The brewery sources barley from Bries Malting in Chilton, WI and was one of the founding breweries of the Midwest Hops and Barley Coop. Both moves are part of a larger aim to support the local production of hops and barley.
From a garage to a full fledged brewery in five short years sums up a dream come true for us Fargo natives with our heart set on bringing craft brewing to the heartland.
It was a like-mindedness that brought our paths together, and a Midwestern work ethic that maintained that path, through thick and thin, to see an idea through and bring as fine a product as we can to our home.
Ah hell, it’s just beer, chief. Bottoms up.
When we founded Fulton in 2009, we were homebrewing out of a South Minneapolis garage and contract brewing at a small Wisconsin brewery. Our dream was to build a real Minneapolis brewery of our own in the next 5-10 years, and quit our day jobs along the way. We never guessed we’d build two Minneapolis breweries in three years. Looks like being wrong can sometimes be awesome..

Grain Belt is now part of the August Schell family of beers. With a 150 year history of brewing great beers, Schell's is the second oldest family owned and operated brewery in the USA. Five generations, never closed, never sold and always operated and managed by the Schell family.
Our famous beer began with a trip across Europe, when Goose Island founder (and unabashed beer lover) John Hall took a tour across the continent. Pint by pint, he savored the styles and selections of brews in every region, and thought to himself, “America deserves some damn fine beer like this, too.”
Craft brewing wasn’t widely known at the time, but upon return from his European sojourn, John set out to change all that. He settled down in his hometown of Chicago—a city perfect for craft beer, with rapidly evolving tastes and the largest system of fresh water on the planet. And then he got to brewing.
First he made some stellar beer. Then he invited his consumers in to watch his process at the brewery, bringing them behind the scenes every step of the way. The result was a new fascination with craft brewing, and beer that not only catered to people’s tastes, but challenged them as well.
That was back in 1988, and we haven’t slowed down since. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love..
Indeed Brewing Company was founded by Rachel Anderson, Nathan Berndt, and Tom Whisenand, and sold its first beer in August of 2012. With a growing team of nearly 50 employees and distribution in three states and counting, Indeed aims for sustainable growth and while staying true to its roots.

Lively, spirited, and complex, Lucy Session Sour Ale is the latest labor of love from our Head Brewer Josh Bischoff. From points distant and beyond we all converged on Petaluma in 1993 and '94 with an unenunciated desire to be more than we were before. The core of Lagunitas came from Chicago, St Louis, Memphis, Walker Creek, and the highlands of Quincy.
Brewing from the North Shore of the "Big Lake," Lake Superior Brewing Company crafts beers that are as delicious as they are distinctive. We started back in the early 1990s as homebrewers who simply wanted to make our favorite styles of beer. (More below.) So, we got our hands on some traditional recipes - for ambers, pale ales, stouts - and gave them a whirl. When we weren't satisfied - or, frankly, didn't have all the ingredients - we tinkered and toiled until we got our brews just right

The Mantorville Brewery was founded in May of 1857 as the Dodge County Brewery by John Herschi. One year later the brewery was purchased by Peter Ginsburg, who in 1864 built a larger facility in Mantorville, at the east end of Main Street on Brewery Creek. Like many of the pioneer breweries of the bluff country, it served the local immigrant farmers in the area. The brewery continued under successive owners until 1939 when it closed and its copper kettle was scrapped for the war effort. In 1996 the Mantorville Brewery was once again reborn through the efforts of six local home brewers. Introduced that year was Stagecoach Amber Ale, named for the famous Stagecoach Saloon, located in the Historic Hubbell House.
Established in 1995 as Northern Wisconsin's first Brewpub.

St Paul, Minnesota
St. Croix Brewery was founded in the winter 1858’s by Gerhard Knipps in Stillwater, MN. The brewery was located on the north end of Stillwater near the Tamarack House, in Dutchtown. Like many early pioneer breweries of the valley, it served the local loggers of the area. As Stillwater grew, the St. Croix Brewery was sold and its operations ceased in the latter part of the 19th century. The buildings and land were used for various mercantile interests until 1935 when it was razed to make room for the new Highway 95 realignment.
In 1995 the St. Croix Brewing Company was reborn by a local homebrewer and was known as the St. Croix Beer Company. With the exciting rebirth, the brewery's inaugural brew, the American Original St. Croix Maple Ale, was introduced. In 2003 Tod Fyten purchased the St. Croix Beer Company and renamed it the St. Croix Brewing Company, LLC. Currently headquartered in St. Paul, MN, plans are to once again build a brewery in the St. Croix River Valley.

You do enough settling. That’s part of life. You owe it to yourself to drink a beer that doesn’t settle. Not settling drives Surly. It’s what drove us to convert a Brooklyn Center abrasives factory to a brewery in 2004. It’s what drove Surly’s owner, Omar Ansari, to go bar to bar, asking them to carry our beer. It’s what drove us to earn medals from the Great American Beer Festival and Best Brewery in America honors. It’s what drove us to change a Minnesota law that had been on the books since Prohibition. It’s what drove us to build a state-of-the-art destination brewery in the heart of the Twin Cities in 2014 featuring a massive beer hall, outdoor beer garden, event center and Brewer’s Table, an award-winning, world-class restaurant. And it’s what drives us today. Surly’s not for everyone. It’s for you. Don’t settle. Get Surly.
